I began sailing at the age of ten in Manly Juniors at Avalon sailing Club, after competing in numerous State and National events I then started sailing Flying 11’s, from there, I moved to the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC) and began the youth development program. During this time, I was also a member of the Abbotsleigh teams racing sailing team, which placed third in two consecutive years at the NSW State Championship, a great achievement for the only all girls school competing in teams racing at that time.

I competed in several offshore and blue water yacht races including the Bird Islet, Cabbage Tree Island Races and in January 2013, the Pittwater to Coffs Harbor Yacht Race where we placed 3rd PHS on the Marten 49; Perpetual Mocean at the age of 16, being the youngest crew in the entire fleet.

In 2013 I sailed from Sydney to Hobart on my father’s timber Alan Wright Design yacht for the annual Hobart Wooden Boat Festival.

After Forming ‘MAKS Racing’ we went on to represent the RPAYC and compete at the Centerport International Youth Match Racing Regatta (IYMRR) in Wellington, New Zealand. In June 2013 MAKS Racing travelled to France to compete in the fist stage of the Women’s International Match Racing Series, where we placed 8th amongst several World Champions and Olympic Sailors.

Since then I have participated in three more years of the youth development program including

  • 2 Harken IYMRR

  • 2 Musto IYMRR

  • 2 Nespresso IYMRR (New Zealand)

  • Placed 2nd at the NSW Youth Match Racing Championships in 2013

  • Placed 2nd in the Women’s Match Racing Championships in 2013 and 2014

  • Placed 3rd Marineassess Women’s Match Racing Regatta in 2013

  • Won the Marineassess Women’s Match Racing Regatta in 2014

  • Won the 2014 Harken IYMRR, being the first all-female team to do so in the events 22 year history

  • Many open match racing events against highly ranked teams.

More recently, Milly, Alice and I, won the ISAF Nations Cup Regional Qualifier, therefore qualifying Australia to compete in the 2015 ISAF Nations Cup Grand Final in Russia.

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Communications in Social Inquiry and a Bachelor of International Studies and aspire to aid in humanitarian work and international diplomacy. Looking forward, I aim to compete in more offshore and ocean races alongside continuing to match race at an international level.
